French startup ZIL Collected a million dollars (1 million euros) in a tour led OneRagtime. The company has developed an application that uses artificial intelligence to find the most interesting photos and videos in your photo library.
Now that smartphones have been around for a while, many people have thousands of unrated images on their iPhone or Android devices. Chances are you don't often move backwards to look at past vacations and important life events.
ZIL Well aware of that. That's why the company does the heavy lifting for you. The app scans your photo library to find important memories and photos you may have forgotten. Patents have been registered for some of their algorithms.
But identifying photos and videos is just one thing. To turn this process into a fun and fun nostalgic experience, the app sends you a daily notification to let you know that Zyl has identified a new memory – they call it Zyl. When you tap on it, the app detects that memory and you can share it with your friends and family.
Then you have to wait another 24 hours to open another Zyl. This slow approach is essential as you spend more time looking at Zyls and sharing them with loved ones.
Please also note that Zyl processes your photo library directly on your iPhone or Android device. Images are not sent to the corporate server.
Then, Zyl plans to enrich your Zyls collection with more photos and videos from your friends and family. You can imagine a way to easily share photos of the same life event with your loved ones, even if they are currently distributed on multiple smartphones.
With today's funding round, the company wants to improve the app and reach millions of users. Zyl already has great detention rates as 38% of users regularly open the app within 5 weeks or more.
