The week is clear Not enough time to understand the market really huge and wonderful like China. Hell, it's not enough time to adjust to the 12-hour time difference from New York. However, each of my three visits to the country over the past two years has yielded some useful ideas about my role as a hardware editor here at TechCrunch.
Late last week, I returned from an eight-day trip to Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong Province and nearby Hong Kong. In some respects, cities are separated from each other, although the newly opened high-speed rail system has reduced the journey to 30 minutes. Customs issues aside, it's the height of comfort. Although I will not enter here for political and cultural reasons, some have expressed surprise at the access available to him.
This particular visit was an exploratory journey. In November, TechCrunch will be Hosted its first Battlefield Hardware event in a few years. Previous events at CES were held for reasons of accessibility to emerging startups. This time, however, we chose to go directly to the source.
